Rangers take control in two league wins

The Dufur volleyball team secured a pair of four-set victories over Mitchell-Spray and Condon-Wheeler in a Big Sky Conference double dual Saturday in Spray.

With the two wins, the Lady Rangers remain in a virtual tie for first place in league with Ione.

Dufur played Mitchell-Spray to open the day and grabbed a 25-13 win in the opening set.

Mitchell then evened things up in the second game with a 25-12 output to set up a third set.

The Rangers won the third set by a 25-18 score and finished off the Eagle-Loggers in the fourth set by a 25-17 edge.

Tianna Ellis had 11 kills, five aces and a dig, Emily DePriest tacked on five kills and Sydney Reed had an ace, three kills, three digs and 12 assists.

Chloe Beeson had four kills, four aces and a block, Karaline Johnson was good for a kill, a block, a dig and five aces, and Haili Wolf-DePriest added four aces and an assist.

In the nightcap, Ellis paced Dufur with 11 kills, two digs and a team-high 10 aces, and Reed tacked on 18 assists, a dig and two aces and the Rangers won in four games.

The Rangers won the first set by a 25-15 score and then added a 26-24 rally to go ahead 2-0.

Condon-Wheeler rebounded with a 25-15 margin in the third set, but Dufur polished off the Knights by a 25-22 score in the fourth game to clinch the match.

Johnson had three kills, three aces and three digs, Beeson chipped in three aces, eight kills, a block and a dig, and Kayla Bailey tallied a dig and had a passing average of 1.67.

On Monday, the Rangers played two matches in Molalla, losing in three to Country Christian and four games to North Douglas.
