Decorators sought

Volunteers can register now as decorators for the Festival of Trees, hosted by the Mid-Columbia Health Foundation at The Dalles Civic Auditorium Dec 4.

Columbia Bank will be the presenting sponsor, with Fred Meyer is sponsoring the community day.

Festival of Trees consists of a live tree auction and silent auction on Friday, Dec. 4, with doors opening at 6 p.m.

“It’s a great way to kick-off the holiday season,” said Celeste Hill-Thomas, executive director of the Mid-Columbia Health Foundation.

Those who wish to donate a decorated tree need to register as soon as possible, as space is limited.

Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased from the Health Foundation, online or at the door the night of the event.

Each tree comes fully decorated in many different themes and in an assortment of sizes.

Items in the silent auction range from group experiences, traditional holiday decorations and themed gift baskets. Friday’s portion of the Festival of Trees is a 21 and over event. Community Day, Saturday, Dec. 5, is free and open to all ages, 9 a.m. to noon. Santa will be on site for photos as a fundraiser for the local SMART program and Riverside Gymnastics will be selling hot cocoa to raise money for their program.

Proceeds from festival are divided between two funds within the Foundation; the Celilo Cancer Center Fund and the Breast Health for Strong Families Fund.
