SEPTEMBER

ARTIST SERIES: A photo collection depicting the building of the John Day Dam 50 years ago is on display at the Sherman County Historical Museum through September. Blue Star Museum with free admission all month for active military personnel and families.

Wednesday, Sept. 19

ROTARY MEETING: The Dalles Rotary Club meets weekly on Wednesdays from 12 to 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran church, 101 W. 10th Street, The Dalles, in the basement (elevator access from parking lot.) The program for Sept. 19 is former exchange student Alex Boldt. Catering by Beachwood Eatery.

Thursday, Sept. 20

DINNER & AUCTION: 47th annual Beef and Burgundy dinner and auction will be headlined by Congressman Greg Walden from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. at The Shilo Inn. POP MEETING: Protect Oregon’s Progress is the local Indivisible group dedicated to inclusion, respect, tolerance and fairness. Monthly meeting scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. at The Riv Café, 401 East 10th Street, The Dalles.

CASA TRAINING: Fall CASA Volunteer Training begins. Learn how to become an advocate for a local child or sibling group in foster care. Interview and application required. Call 541-286-3468 or visit www.gorgecasa.org for more information.

MEDICARE 101: Learn more about what is covered by Medicare, what is not, enrollment timelines and opportunities to switch plans during open enrollment at a free class, 1 to 3 p.m. at Columbia Gorge Community College, The Dalles campus, Building 3, Room 102. FRIDAY PINOCHLE: Friday night Pinochle at the Mid-Columbia Senior Center, 1112 W. 9th Street, The Dalles. Play begins at 6 p.m. New players and beginners welcome. Enter through the door on the 10th Street side. For more information contact the center.

Saturday, Sept. 22

REUNION MOVED: The Class of 1963 has changed its reunion date from Sept. 22 to Sept. 29, with a brunch on Sept. 30.

SATURDAY BINGO: Bingo at the Mid-Columbia Senior Center, 1112 W. 9th Street, The Dalles. Doors open at 4 p.m. Bingo starts at 6 p.m. All ages welcome (children 12 to 18 years old must be accompanied by a legal guardian.) New players encouraged to arrive by 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, Sept 23

CASCADE SINGERS: Community choir is beginning its fall season. The Singers meet under the direction of Miles Thoming-Gale, filling in for long-time director Lloyd Walworth. Rehearsals take place Sundays from 7 to 9 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 10th and Union Streets, The Dalles. One-hour work sessions also happen on 7 p.m. Thursdays at First United Methodist Church. The fall project is preparation for a holiday concert in December. Rehearsals are open to all interested singers. The choir often appears at community events, with formal concerts at Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day, and in late spring.

Tuesday, Sept. 25

CHRISTIAN YOGA: Yoga classes every Tuesday, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., at Gateway Presbyterian Church, 1111 Dry Hollow Rd., The Dalles. By donation, proceeds benefit the mission fund. Information on Facebook, “Yoga for Christ,” or email janellwyatt@gmail.com.
