SWC cruises past Echo, 62-35

No. 5-ranked South Wasco County broke open a 7-all tie through one quarter with runs of 22-4 and 19-10 in the second and third quarters to defeat Echo, 62-35, in Big Sky conference girls hoops play Friday in Maupin.

The win gives the Redsides six straight to start league play with eight Big Sky games and two non-league tilts left on the schedule.

Madisen Davis paced SWC with 14 points, Abby Birman added 11 and Destiny Mora-Lopez went off for 10 points, as the team sank 28 field goals, three 3-pointers, and went 3 of 10 on free throws shots.

Kyrsten Sprouse and Jade McCoy notched six points apiece, and the duo of Jada Myers and Hailey Anderson finished with three points.

Faith McCarty poured in 21 points and Rachel McCarty ended up with eight points for the Cougars (6-8 overall, 4-2 league), who totaled 12 field goals and connected on 11 of 26 free throws.

SWC (13-1, 6-0) travels to Ione at 6 p.m. Friday, and then wraps up the weekend slate at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon versus Arlington in Maupin.
