Inclement weather moved Tuesday’s Dufur girls basketball game to Wednesday in their second-to-last matchup of the year, and the Lady Rangers outscored Mitchell-Spray 12-4 in the second half of a 38-17 win at Spray.

TD skiers trying to finish strong ahead of state

The Dalles ski team struggled a bit last Saturday during slalom action on the Ski Bowl Course, but the group has nearly a month to fix a few fundamental aspects before state on Mar. 6-8. Four of the seven skiers had two-run marks and both the boys and girls teams did not accumulate enough completed times in a varsity meet at Mount Hood Meadows.

If a top athlete is willing to sacrifice stats and accomplishments for the betterment of the team, great things happen. A running back through much of his football career, The Dalles football player Dalles Seufalemua made a switch from the backfield to the trenches opening holes and protecting his quarterback as an offensive lineman.

TD makes a statement at White Buffalo Invite

Last week, The Dalles wrestlers were road warriors with league duals at Ridgeview and Hood River, and Saturday at the White Buffalo Invitational in Madras, the team had a season-high eight placers, led by seniors Andrew Richman and JR Scott, who won a combined five matches, four by pinfall, to take top honors in their respective weight classes.

TD keeps state hopes intact

Kilee Hoylman and Lauryn Belanger combined for 41 points and The Dalles girls basketball team broke open a 29-25 halftime lead with a 31-23 second-half run to defeat No. 19 Ridgeview by a final count of 60-48 in league play Friday at Kurtz Gym.

Things were encouraging through the first three quarters, as the Dufur Lady Rangers led by five points midway through the third quarter, until No. 7-ranked South Wasco County amped up the defense and went on a 30-6 spurt at one point in the second half to close out the game by a 50-30 girls basketball final Tuesday in Maupin.

Sherman strikes first versus HCS

MORO – In a showdown between the last two undefeated Big Sky basketball teams, Tyler Jones, Luke Martin and Wade Fields combined for 35 second-half points and the No. 2-ranked Sherman Huskies broke open a 29-27 halftime lead with a 41-29 run in the third and fourth quarters of their 70-56 victory over No. 8 Horizon Christian Tuesday in Moro.

Swimmers rack up 22 all-time bests in La Grande

Of The Dalles’ 18 swimmers competing at Saturday’s La Grande Invitational, 14 posted personal records and there were 22 all-time best times recorded, as both the girls and boys combined for 465.5 points and a tie for third place with Baker City in the five-team field.
